I have one seam left to sew on this baby.
Two days ago it still looked like this
It's for my daughter-in-law Megan, for Christmas.
Mark and Megan were here for Thanksgiving, and I got it out and checked the size on Megan before starting to stitch it together. Hard won experience has taught me that getting it right beats out the surprise factor every time.
The size is good - perfect actually - so I stitched together the sleeve saddles and armscyes and then knit the neckband on. To make the neckline lie flat and come closer to her neck - as I know the neckband has been a complaint/issue with these patterns, I knit the first two cable rib repeats with a size 6 needle, the next one with a size 4, and the last with a size 3. It looks great and I know it'll block out flat.
So, I have one seam left to sew, which I will do after dark tonight. Hence the daylight pics with that last side seam left open.
Hope all my American friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
Now, while the football is on and dh is happily esconsed in front of the television, I'm heading down to the sewing room. I know Carolyn is sewing this weekend - anyone else?

I am seing this weekend, and like you, I am sewing a Christmas gift.
My stepdaughter asked for a maxi dress and picked a pattern from BWOF. Then we looked at Pantone colors so I'd have an idea of what colors she likes. I got extremely lucky and found fabric locally, so the dress is cut and ready to sew. I agree, getting it right trumps the surprise factor!

I thought I was sewing today but the power went out at 9:30 and was just restored about 20 minutes ago (4 PM). The good news is that we went out and had lunch and finished all our Christmas shopping, which was mostly done anyway.

I'm just about to pull out the sewing stuff and make a doll quilt for Madison's American Girl Doll Bell.

The only sewing I am doing this long weekend is home dec--pillows and dining room chair slipcovers.
I've never seen a knitted sweater with the "saddle" shoulder made that way. Very impressive!
Not sewing this weekend. It's been an entirely "family" thing since Thursday, and going into tomorrow.
Wowee! Look at all those cables... it's beautiful and I'm sure your daughter in law will think of you when she is wearing it.

I did manage to get some sewing done this weekend - 2 skirts and one tee so far. I have another skirt pratically done - but now we're watching holiday movies and I'm getting ready to start my 2nd of 4 fair isle stockings. g

What a beautiful pattern on this sweater. My mother used to knit for me a lot when she was alive. Whenever I see a beautiful sweater like this it makes me think of her.
The sweater is beautiful!!! Mom knits and wants to teach me again. She taught me the basics when I was a kid, but I don't really remember much! Now that I have this newfound love of sewing, she says I must learn to knit also!

Thanks very much for your expert comments on me asking thread recommendation for my Chanel Jacket.
Unfortunately, The quilting is already done and I used invisible thread. As you confirmed I suspected it would not be advised by an expert but I took the risk because that was the only alternative that pleased my eyes. I must say that I am quite happy with the result and I hope it will last on the long run. Anyway, I ma becoming addicted to this type of jacket and and it is the first one I make but not the last. I learn so much with this project that I enjoy every minute of though it is very time consuming. In the next one I will try to find the machine embroidery thread you recommend.
Yuor jumper is superb, you are such a talentrd person and very inspirational.
